Do you have one extra hour a month? That's all it takes to make a significant impact on a first-generation college student's life through the Office of Admissions' Adopt an Admit Mentor Program!
The Office of Admissions is excited to announce the relaunch of the Adopt an Admit Mentor Program, designed to recruit and support first-generation college students as they navigate the complexities of college enrollment at Georgia College & State University (GCSU). Admissions will identify admitted fall 2025 first-generation students and pair each student with a dedicated faculty or staff mentor to build a meaningful relationship and guide them through the enrollment process.
As a mentor, you will:
The Admissions team will provide comprehensive training for all mentor volunteers, and matches will be made based on shared interests. Through these efforts, Admissions aims to help GCSU build a strong first-year class.
Three virtual training sessions will be held: January 17, January 24, and January 27. Faculty and staff need only attend one of these virtual trainings. If you are unable to attend any of the sessions, a recording will be made available. Your assigned mentee(s) will be shared via email after you complete a training session.
If you are interested in assisting, please select a date below to register to become a mentor.
If you have any questions about this effort, please contact Javier Francisco, executive director of admissions, at 478-445-1991, javier.francisco@gcsu.edu.
